Set . . . (and Setbacks)

My large binder of printouts, with the house dog (Kona) having a blast in the background :)

Saturday was supposed to have been travel day number one. Covid had other plans.

A friend’s Covid diagnosis last Monday delayed my leaving past the weekend. Then I discovered Friday evening that my sore throat and sniffles have been Covid as well. Although my quarantine is up before my new travel dates, I lost a couple days of prep this weekend being wiped out.

I’ve also had some changes to my mode of travel. While I was initially going to be driving, the change in dates along with the fact that my car still has no AC despite multiple efforts to have it fixed, meant that busing was cheaper and safer than driving. A combination of busing and flying was comparable in price and far less exhausting than driving 12 hours each way by myself. So I should be able to review my first experiences both on Flixbus and American Airlines this week!

With the Covid setbacks, instead of exciting pictures of my preparations and packing, I have this slightly appalling photo of how much paper I printed to prep for the trip. Unfortunately, one more large document still needs to be added, and much of that pile will need measure numbers (guess what I’ll be doing on the bus). Hopefully the cute dog helps lighten the mood :)

Thanks for following along. In spite of everything, I’m so incredibly grateful to be traveling and studying this month. Just 24 hours until I leave!
